Introduction to Voice:
The Power of Singing
A Capstone Collaboration and Partnership between CSU Channel Islands and BRITE
Sabrina Moreno is a senior at CSU Channel Islands taking her Capstone class. Capstone is designed for research and performance in a student's area of emphasis in the performing arts program. The purpose of her capstone project is to develop a curriculum that can be taught to underserved, low-income students that have a disparity of resources and departmental funding for the Performing Arts. The curriculum is based in Vocal Pedagogy and Music Theory, pertaining to her educational background and instruction. A preliminary goal is to increase student participation and access to professional level instruction supplementing their current music curriculum. She also wishes to bring awareness to the necessity of music education for students and the importance of vocal studies.
Gerald Ford
“Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them – a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music.”
